A lot of catfish bait recipes call for chicken, beef, or pork blood. Where does one find animal blood for sale? My first guess would be a slaughterhouse (duh) but where does one find slaughterhouses in a given area? I tried Googling slaughterhouses in Cincinnati, but didn’t get very much. Any suggestions?

hey dan my names josh i just love the heck outta cat fiching i fish severeal cat fish pay lakes and rivers ranging from pennsylavania to the state of illinois…. ive fished the ohih river the three rivers entry way. beaver river falston damn lake erie….. my favorite is actually walleye but flat heads and blues are another favorite of mine…. i use gold fish and blue gill alot but really only catch at most 3 or 4 with in a 12 hour night fishing period… i usually try near the openings of channels at lakes, like the one i fish at they have 4 different lakes but all conjoined. with a seperation where the lakes will skinny out into four with fence dividers the area of the dividers is only about 4 feet across so it forms into a damned up channel. i usually fish close to the channels but more like the mouth of them. which i belive is the number 1 spot but maybe im just not using the right bait i wanna know if there are any certain baits for flat heads and any certain baits and areas for big blues…. *by the way this lake also has a 72 pound blue cat named big hub. you can find the lakes site at hubbards south lakes. in mooresville, IN

there is a big flathead in a pond that i have been trying to catch forever. my dad put it in ten years ago. it was 26 pounds then. a few years back, a boy told me him and his family caught it. he said they could hold it up to their chest and the tail would rub the ground. ive tried to catch this fish for two years. i even set a trotline in the pond to catch it. i put goldfish on the hooks and i came back the next day. all the baits were gone and a hook was broken off. they told me they put the fish back. and ive tried everything i know to catch it..anything you can tell me would be great.

What factors will cause catfish (channels) to stop biting for days on end? we have always caught channels on this particular small lake for years, but this spring/summer they have not been hitting any bait ,anywhere on the lake. No others have been getting them to bite either. The weather has been normal for the area, warm days with a few rainey days now and again. But it has been 2 weeks since a channel was caught. We have tried several locations and every bait you could think of. PLEASE HELP !!!

Dan, My grandfather has a 2 acre pond that was stocked with primarily catfish about 20 years ago. It has only been fished a few tims and he claims to have seen 6 to 7 feet long catfish waddling near the shore. He is usually not the “fish tail” story teller that older folks can often be…he is usually right on and never stretches a story. My question is this…what woud you recommend would work best to catch a couple? Should we fish it with a standard pole and line set-up or should we try barrels or jugs tied to lines and come back the next day? We plan on returning them to the pond but want a few pics first. Thanks for your help!

hi dan kinda new at cat fishing in texas been fishing since i was a kid the only catfishing i have done would have been at night using a night crawler, bell sinker on the bottom 1-2 hooks up about a foot or two now i know there are some huge cats in texas and different methods to catch them but i like to go at night sit in my chair with a cold drink and relax is this type of fishing productive or a waste of time i really dont care if i catch one big one or a dozen small ones some times we take the kids and they love it any tips u could give me would be of great help i will talk to u soon thank you,
