Monster Lunker Catfish Techniques For Lake Texoma Fishing

As important as the location is, it is obviously not the only factor that will help bring you success in bringing home that “Big One”. It is very important that you have very strong gear. You must invest in heavy tackle. You will need a 7 foot or longer heavy action rod.

Bait casting rods are the strongest, but some anglers prefer to use a spin casting reel. No matter which reel you choose, spool it either 30, 50, or even 80 pound braid. After that, attach a 6/0 to 10/0 heavy wire circle knot. It is critical to tie a really good knot.

As always, use live fish for bait. There is no other way to be successful. Now you have heavy gear, a good knot, and live fish bait. There is one other critical factor if you are to be successful. You must have patience–a lot of patience. It will not be too often that you will catch a 50 pound or larger catfish. Remember, in this case you are trying to catch the monster lunker catfish.

As its name suggests, it is huge–it’s a monster. Those size fish do not come along every day. You must be patient and be willing to go out there day after day until success becomes yours.

On the day that you catch that monster lunker catfish, you will be quite glad that you had the patience to keep on trying. It will be one of those memorable fishing days that will be remembered for years to come. After all, isn’t that how legends are made?
