Proven Tactics for Catching Monster Catfish

Have Patients
If you are serious about catching a monster catfish, then you should expect it to take awhile. You can’t expect to real in that big one as soon as you toss out your line.

Dress Comfortably
This may seem like a very insignificant thing but just imagine for a moment being out on the boat for several hours at a time dressed in clothing that you can’t wait to take off. You will not be able to catch that monster catfish because you will be too occupied about getting home and changing into something more comfortable.

Setting the Hook
Catfish have a tendency of nibbling at the bait. If you try and set the hook when you first feel the nibble you will jerk the bait right out of his mouth. You have to wait until he completely takes the bait. The more often you go catfish fishing the more experience you will have and the easier it will be for you to tell when it’s time to set the hook.

Don’t forget to bring along a net to help you bring that monster cat in. It would be almost impossible to pull him up with the rod and reel without some type of assistance. In fact, it may even still be a little hard pulling them in with the help of a net.
