A tasty piece of Blue Catfish

Are Blue Catfish good to eat?

I have been asked many a time about the taste of Blue Catfish, many people are unsure if they are tasty to eat as they have never really seen them on the shelf at the local shop or at the fish market. The reason why this may be the case is because the Blue Catfish and Channel Cat look pretty similar and those Channel Cats you see in the shop may even be Blue Catfish.

So lets get to the taste…

Blue Catfish, along with Channel Catfish are among the best tasting fresh water fish you can catch or buy. If you ever get the chance to taste these wonderful fish you will salivate at the tender white, sweet tasting meat. It is also important to mention at this juncture that the Blue Catfish is a very large fish that can grow in excess of forty five kilograms in weight so it is also a very meaty fish that offers some great thick steaks.

Tasty Blue Catfish recipe

One of the tastiest and easiest ways to cook Blue Catfish is to mix cornmeal, salt and pepper together, put flour on your Blue Catfish fillet, dip the Blue Catfish fillet in a bowl of beaten eggs and coat the Catfish in the cornmeal mix before frying the fish for around five to six minutes each side.

Blue Catfish are available in abundance in the Mississippi river and its tributaries so if your an avid fisherman I suggest visiting these states to catch your very own Blue Catfish.
