Advice on what might help when using night crawlers for catching catfish. And when using shrimp for catching fish. And a recomended reel and rod for catfish. Thank you!

Using night crawlers for catching fish is very common, and they are affordable. The body of water affects what you will do. When it is a clear night and you can smell others grilling but other times it is difficult. The same is very true for catfish and what they are able to smell. If you fish in a location that has top notch water quality then those fish will smell your night crawlers with ease. If the water isn’t clean though you may need to add something. I have added a few teaspoons of granulated garlic and this helps them to become more attractive by smell. Place the garlic with the night crawlers for a few hours and then you are ready to go. I have done this with shrimp too. I have also don this with a pack of red Kool Aid. Don’t add water though, just sprinkle the dry drink mix on them and let them sit. A great rod is the Shakespeare Ugly Stick Catfish paired with the Zebco 888 reel.
