Are there differences between jug lines, fishing jugs, and jug fishing for catfish?

Jug fishing is a method of fishing that has been available for many years, though it may not be as well known as other similar methods.  It is an effective way to fish for catfish.  Jug fishing is a method where you will set many hooks into the water, which allows you to cover a larger area with bait.  The best way to use jug fishing is for channel catfish or blue catfish, but it can be used for various types of fishing (check your local regulations first.)

Fishing jugs is a term that is used to describe what you are doing, jug fishing and fishing jugs is the same thing.  Jug lines are the tools used in this type of fishing.  This device is used to help set your bait over a large area of water.  You will find that the term can be different depending on where you are located, too.  Fishing jugs, juglines, jugs and jug lines all mean the same thing.  As for what it is, it is a piece of fishing line that is attached at one end to a float and then runs down toward the bottom of the lake with various hooks off of it.

To use this method of fishing, which is very similar to trotlines, you will bait the hooks, and then set the floats throughout the water area.  You will find that the fish bite easily and will keep you busy with this method!  It is a great method to teach young anglers who may be too restless to wait!
