Hello Dan; I’ve fished for catfish since i was knee high to a grasshopper, mainly in rivers, creeks, and Kaw Lake in northeastern Okla. I’ve had succsess with Flathead on worms and live perch shad don’t seem to stay alive on hook long enough.Bluecat and channel i’ve had great luck with worms and fresh shad right out of the lake. My wife Twlia is my lifelong fishing partner we have moved to Canadian Tx. because of work fishing is terrible up here we find ourselfes traveling alot, we both turned 50 years of age this year it;s time to fish Lake Texoma. I’m equiped with a boat 06 kenner 21vx 200hp center console, rods and reels for catfishing, i’ve never been to lake texoma all i need is a good starting point in the right direction. I know all of us good catfisherman don’t tell there good fishin holes to just anybody but i’ll try to make it worth your while. I fish day or night pending on how the cats are acting, i might be to late being late spring i don’t know how it is down there. If you can help us out it will be greatly appreciated. Dear sir, I love catfishing year round, this year has been different ’cause I hav’nt caught any bragable cats. It’s warm season here in north al. Guntersville. I’ve tried differnt types, sizes, shapes, using my homegrown redworms and chicken liver. Seems all I’m doing is feeding them. Have no trouble getting hits in 5 minutes or less after in water, the most is setting the hook. Also been trying different lenths leaders from 20-12-6″ with 1/2oz weights. Even tried slipweights, still can’t and it’s gotta be something I’m doing wrong. Depth water is 10-20′ deep in mostly river bends. Wandering if you could give me some tips. thank you very much for your time, David

I’m 11 and me and my dad always try to catch flathead catfish we live in ohio newark ohio.we usally gonto the muskingum river we try to cacth them but we never even get a bite. we use for flatheads is chubs or bluegill live or dead. we always cacth channles there but never flatheads we know there in that river. so can you plaease give us some tips about catching flatheads.

Hello Dan, I have recently gotten permition to fish an old paylake that hasnt been fished very much in the last 10 years. Theres loads of largemouths and quite a few bluegill from what I can tell. I have seen some huge catfish serfucing and swimming in the shallows. My family and I have fished here a couple of imes but no luck catching those monster cats I have been seeing. I have used garlic powder marinated chicken liver, nightcrawlers, red worms, chicken breast marinated in strawberry koolaid(family recipe for paylakes), and cheese. I have been trying anything I can think of but I have came up empty on cats. I was hoping for some advice as of why there not biting. I know theres monsters in there I saw one that looked to be 3-4 ft long and defonately a cat. Hope you can help dan. There are also a crazy amount of bed holes all over the shallows if that makes a difference.
