Channel Catfish Bait

Category: Uncategorized

what bait do channel cat fish love most

Channel Catfish like to eat fish more than any other form of forage. I often see anglers fishing for Catfish using a variety of different processed baits. These “stink baits” will all work, you will have success using them. You can also successfully use baits such as hot dogs, corn, night crawlers, cheese and bread dough and catch catfish. In the final analysis however the best bait by far to catch Catfish is fish. It can be a live fish, a freshly killed fish or even a cut portion of a fish that has been freshly killed or freshly thawed after being freshly frozen. Think about it logically, the whole idea of fishing is to mimic the actual food that they eat. Catfish do not feed on dough balls or any of these other processed baits naturally, they eat fish. Concentrate more on your equipment and making the best presentation possible while fishing for Catfish. Your rod needs to be heavy action with enough backbone to set the hook deeply into their tough mouths. I often prefer to use freshly cut fish for bait rather than live bait. First of all with freshly cut bait you can make it to the size you want rather than the size that is available. The best section to use is the tail section along with enough of the body to expose the inner organs. You should hook the bait near the tail because it holds best there. The organs will act as a chum that will attract Catfish from long distances.
