If you are not catching them deep, try to set your hooks a foot or two
deep, and see if that does not change your luck a bit!
The best thing to do is set your lines about dusk, and come back in the
early morning to bring your harvest in. Use caution when you
are pulling your lines out of the water, because it is not unknown to
find a big, old, angry catfish with some fight left in him, and it is
easy to get pulled overboard. Likewise, you can pull up a
nasty water moccasin, gar, or snapping turtle as well. So
just be careful when you pull your line from the water.
Using live bait that has blood to it will work well when limb line
fishing for catfish, but you can also use fresh cut bait, commercial
bait, or even artificial bait in a pinch.
