Soap bait seems to attract blue and channel cat most frequently, but you can also catch flathead catfish as well. You can use soap bait to bait trot lines, cane poles, or rod and reel anglers can use it as well. Just cut the soap bait into chunks, and thread it on the hook. Made properly, it is of such consistency that it holds onto the hook very well, and stands up to water exposure as well.

Now that you know a few of the inside tricks, be sure to test them out.  There are other methods out there, too, but we find that this is the most successful method for catfish.  If you find success with it, do let us know!  The fact is, there are many secrets and hush hush tidbits out there.  Do they work?  Many people believe they are the most successful way of catching the type of fish you are after.  Take into consideration, though that what works in one location may not work elsewhere!
