In cold weather, you can still catch plenty of catfish, and it is
actually probably the best time to increase your chances of catching
some really big catfish. The smaller fish are usually the ones who have
the toughest time surviving the winter, and the larger fish hang out in
the areas where you find rocky ledges and depressions in the water,
waiting for forage to come to them.
When fishing for catfish in small ponds, remember that the local
environment will play a significant role in the way the fish live,
react and the way that they take your bait (or not.) If this is the
first time you are fishing in these ponds, talk to local anglers to
find out what has worked best for them. In many situations, you will
find ample opportunity to really do well, especially if you take into
consideration the tips these professionals (for the area) give you.
Pond fishing for catfish is a lot of fun and can be very successful too!
