Garlic salt is just one ingredient in a catfish bait recipe. Garlic is a strong smell dry or wet. Although there is not one special ingredient, it is the smell and stink that attracts the catfish. What you do not want to do is marinate the meat in the garlic without adding the heat to the mixture. Hot garages or containers in direct sunlight will help marinate the garlic into the mixture. This is not something you want to smell until you are ready to use it. One jar of garlic is used for larger recipes that will last for a few trips to the lake. Only take enough bait or the entire bucket with the lid sealed tightly with you. Dip in and take what you need each time.
