Paylake Scuess

i need an advantage when going to my local paylakes i never seem to have luck when i go and i get so frustrated i would love to kno any tips you have on pay lake fishing what kinda bait best time or spots whatever it takes to get me ahead

The first question I would ask is whether the pay lake is off a high quality or not. I am going to assume that you are witnessing other angler’s catch Catfish but you are not. The following tips should help you in this regard and improve your fishing. First try to understand the average pay lake. It is usually a small lake with easy access to all the fishing areas. You are not going to find fish that other anglers cannot. Also you must consider that fish in these types of lakes probably have become wary to the average common fishing techniques. If a fish has attained a large size in these waters it has done so by instinctually avoiding commonly used techniques. I would start off by going lighter in your approach. Get yourself a long high quality medium action rod of at least six feet in length. Then spool your reels with fluorocarbon line of no more than six pound test strength. Yes you will have to take your time fighting a large fish but that is what our sport is about. Light line will get more bites than heavy line. For bait you need to keep it natural. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is better for catching Catfish than a live fish of an appropriate size. If you want an edge cut a portion of the tail off the fish you are using for bait. This will cause small amounts of blood to enter the water which will act like a chum that attracts Catfish.
