Please help me catch the largest catfish the next time I go out with my buddies

Here is some advice I can give you to help you accomplish catching the largest catfish! Start out with the right bait. The largest catfish are predators, so they go after bait fish. Use live bait if you are able to such as Bluegill. You should use those that are about 4 or 5 inches in length. the large catfish will eat them because they can swallow them in a single effort, and run away fast. I’m not saying the biggest catfish won’t respond to cut fish or other items, but the smaller catfish will leave your live bait alone. As a result, you won’t have to worry about them bothering your bait at all. Then when you get some action, you will now that you have a very large sized catfish on the other end. Use a Gamakatsu Octopus hook and you will find that you are able to offer the strength you need. Only use a #3 as it is extremely strong and it will hold those large catfish! One very important thing – fish at night and close to the shore. The largest catfish will be there to prey on the fish there. “
“What is the world record for flathead? Do you know what bait was used?”,”What is the world record for flathead? Do you know what bait was used?

The largest recorded Flathead weighed 123 pounds. It was caught by Ken Paulin at the Elk City Reservoir. This took place in May of 1998. There is no information that I found online about the lenght of the flathead or the type of bait that was used to capture it. The information does tell what type of equipment he was using though. It was a Zebco 33 and he was using 12 pound test line on it.
While there are reports online about other flatheads that are larger being caught, there is no verification of them. That is something tha tyou need to keep in mind. I suggest keeping a camera with your fishing gear at all times. Then you can get photos of very large fish. That may be the only record you have if it gets away from you. The last thing you want is an amazing fishing story but nothing to back it up.
