What are the best baits for catfish?

The best bait for catfish will depend on where you are fishing and the time of the year as well as the water you are fishing. Many anglers will use cut bait and some will use homemade bait with chicken livers or other recipes. The best bait will depend on where you are fishing and what type of cat you are fishing. For the most part, if you are fishing flathead catfish, the homemade baits are going to attract the big fish. If you are fishing for channels or blues, you can use smaller dough balls or shad. Minnows will also work for catching catfish. The smell of the chicken livers is what will attract the catfish. Many anglers will use homemade bait for this reason. You can use shad and let the flip-flop around on the hook to attract the cats. You will have to use a hook that is shape enough and strong enough to hold the bait and hold the catfish after you hook it. If you keep your hooks sharp after each catch and use bait with some smell to attract the fish, almost anything you use will work. I have heard of people using McDonald’s chicken nuggets, while some have used hot dogs. Some have even used road kill such as a raccoon or something else. Whatever you decide to use, just make sure that you are using bait that other anglers have used in the same waters. Not that it should matter, but sometimes it does.
