What are the best strategies to use in catfishing tournaments?

The best thing you can do for catfishing in tournaments is to find the area where the catfish are laying low. Then present the bait about four feet from the bottom of the water floor. You should use a smaller fish, bluegills and cut up shad for bait. You bait the hook, drop, and drift. This technique has worked for so many anglers when they are fishing tournaments. The important thing to remember about using cut bait of any type, you need to cut it up shortly before using it. The fresh cut will still give off the scent that will attract the catfish. Another thing to remember is that if you are using cut bait with large scales take the scales down. The reason you do this is that the scales will hold in the scent from the bait. This means that the catfish will not catch that scent. If you want to get more scent, skin the fish before dropping it in the water. This will give you even more attraction for the catfish. Make sure that when you bait the hook that you leave the barb and point exposed. Make sure that the hook goes completely through the bait. If you remember these tips, you should have some great times fishing the catfish tournaments. You do have to read the regulations before using any bait or techniques to see what is allowed and what is not. You do not want to catch a winner and have it called into judgment.
