Where are the best places for catfishing in Arizona? What baits should I use?

Arizona is popular for catfish fishing. In fact, the central area is the best place to fish. There are more fishing holes in the Arizona central parts then anywhere else. You can fish for channel catfish and flatheads at Apache Lake, Bartlett Lake, Gila River, Horseshoe Lake, Lake Pleasant and Salt River Cherry Creek. If you are in need of other areas to catch channel catfish, you can fish Encanto, Kiwanis, Papago Ponds, Red Mountain and Surprise. You could also fish Rio Vista and Riverview. This area is truly a catfish angler’s paradise. You will have no problems finding a place to fish. The bait is the other part of catfishing. The cats will strike the bait that is alive or dead. The catfish is a predator and swims on the bottom of the water looking for food. There is baitfish that the cat will eat, but if you have something that stinks and throws off a smell that can be smelled for a distance under water, the cats have a strong sense of smell and will track down the stinky bait to feed. You can use simple recipes to make your own bait or you could use fish heads from other fish. If you want some good fishing, visit some of these places and use a bait that will bring the fish running. You can sit for hours waiting for a bite, but if you tease the catfish with a stink smell, the wait will be much shorter and produce a fish or two.
